Louisa is a certified Yoga Instructor through YogaSpirit Studios. In addition, Louisa has also completed training in Yoga methods specifically designed for children with special needs.
Melissa is a senior designer project manager and account rep with over 20 years experience in graphic, web, illustrative and industrial design. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1987. Melissa currently works at Designsite, a design and marketing communications firm in Fairfield, CT. She is also co-owner of The Painted Bird, an art, design and crafts business that runs workshops and after school programs for kids in Fairfield, CT. Melissa is currently the Creative Director for The Pilot House, where she also teaches Painting classes for young adults. Melissa and her husband Michael reside in Fairfield, CT with their 16 year old twins, Madeline and Michael John (MJ).
Nadine is an ABA Instructor, with more than 20 years of experience working within the DDS population. She attended Southern Connecticut State University, where she received her PCT certification. Nadine has been with The Pilot House for over 5 years, assisting with Occupational Therapy, as well as music, art, and cooking classes.
Mary is a Special Education Teacher with over thirty years of experience. She received her Bachelor and Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut State University in the field of Special Education, with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has taught all levels and disabilities over the span of her career, with the last 15 years specializing in the field of Autism. Currently she is working toward a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis. Mary has worked with various Birth to Three Agencies, Coordinator of Home Behavioral Programs, Behavioral Consultant for CREC- River Street Program and Special Education Teacher for the district of Westport.
Jim King is the Master Instructor of the family owned and managed King Academy of Martial Arts & Self-Defense located in Monroe, CT. Master King has been training in the martial arts for more than 18 years and currently holds a 4th Dan in Tang Soo Do, a 1st Dan in Tae Kwon Do, and is actively pursuing a rank in Hapkido. His passion for teaching martial arts is fueled by the connection it provides to his wife and two children, both of which hold advanced ranks in Tang Soo Do, and the joy watching the 100+ students currently enrolled in his school grow as individuals and martial artists. He volunteers his time to teach martial arts at The Pilot House in addition to maintaining a full-time career as a corporate executive in the healthcare communications industry.
Taylor is a Fitness Specialist, with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Endicott College. She has previously worked as a children's fitness coach and personal trainer at The Edge Fitness Club, and has experience in program design, as well as motor-skill development for children and adults of all ages. Taylor has also interned with The Special Olympics of Connecticut, and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Michael joined The Pilot House in 2014. His qualifications include volunteering and helping students with special needs for the past 10 years. He has volunteered at Barnum School in Bridgeport as a teacher assistant, facilitating and providing students with strategies and methods of learning, calming, and social skills. His quiet and creative temperament is an asset to engaging and understanding the needs of all students. Currently he is the program coordinator, developing new and diverse activities and classes that give students an opportunity to learn skills to excel in areas otherwise not provided. His foresight and objective personality allows him to design a new program, and assess the needs of what students need and want.
Samuel Rotini Sr.
Sam is a seasoned special education teacher whose career spans over 25 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1997 and his Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism from Southern Connecticut State University in 2007. Sam received his 6th year in School Administration from Sacred Heart University and attended the University of Massachusetts for his Board Certification in Behavioral Analysis. He has served as a teacher, diagnostician, and case manager with Birth to Three/Child and Family Network (Derby, CT) and Aces Cooperative School (North Haven, CT). Sam has works for Bridgeport Public Schools both as the case manager for a self-contained classroom for SED students and, most recently, as the case manager for a self-contained elementary school classroom for children with autism. His work has included designing and implementing discrete trial and behavioral programs, creating differentiated curriculum, and training and supervision of paraprofessionals.
Samuel Rotini Jr.
Sam joined The Pilot House in 2015 as a media specialist and student facilitator. He is currently working on his associate degree at Housatonic Community College. His career started as a committed volunteer, working with students with special needs for the past 8 years. He has attended trainings and conferences on the most current scientific methods and approaches in the areas of academic and social integration for the special needs population. He has demonstrated organizational, detail oriented, and creative skills that have proven an asset to the organization.
Anthony is a freelance photographer, designer, and illustrator and has been developing his skill set for the past decade. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hartford where he studied photography and graphic design. He has taught photography courses to high school and college level students over the past five years. Anthony also works in package design and marketing design as well as teaching photography at The Pilot House.
